About Hannah Vicente

Me

I am a Print and Digital Journalism student at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. I also have a minor in Culture, Media and Entertainment at USC Annenberg. In my first two years of college I wrote for an online fashion magazine, interned at a top 20 television news market in California and reported as a multimedia journalist in USC's state-of-the-art media center.

Growing up my passions revolved around sports, family and travel. These parts of my life brought out my competitive nature, compassion and cultural awareness. Most importantly they shaped my path into a career in writing where I can explore the avenues of expression, experience and inspiration.

In fifth grade I created a magazine called What's the 411 dedicated to exploring the day to day habits of my elementary school peers - It only survived one issue, but at the time it was a fun way for me to express my excitement for the actions and behaviors of people around me. Since then my passion and curiosity for people and life has only become clearer as I explore a career in the field of journalism.

I developed a stronger interest in journalism during the past year through a few internships I held during college. Each helped me narrow down my likes and dislikes. Throughout the internships my favorite parts of journalism remain constant: meeting people, learning new ideas and getting to inspire through writing.

Having visited my father's birthplace in Cape Verde, Africa to studying in the heart of Los Angeles my desire to understand the different peoples and cultures around me has been long engrained through travel. I aspire to use my voice with writing or speaking where I can reach both the hearts and minds of people. Whether that is with a magazine, newsroom or a company with a strong message my same goals will carry though these different avenues of work.
